Alan
is an ILT staff trainer at Mid-Cheshire College. He has been delivering
podcasting awareness sessions to college staff for the past 3 years.
He is on the steering group of the HEA funded project ‘Podcasting
for Pedagogic Purposes', has written a podcasting guide for the
National Learning Network and has delivered many training sessions
in the FE and HE sector. Alan also produces and hosts his own music
podcast ‘Darkhorse Radio'.
He
is working on podcasting projects with FE lecturers and students
in several curriculum areas and is encouraging teaching staff to
make use of this exciting and increasingly popular resource – either
from the receiving end or from behind the microphone (giving them
the ideas and enthusiasm to take it further and create their own
podcast).
Podcasting
in education
In
this session Alan Carr, an ILT staff trainer at Mid-Cheshire College,
will explain what a podcast is – how they can be found – how they
can be played – how they are created. He will demystify the baffling
terminology and look at a number of examples of podcasting in education
with a particular focus on student created podcasts.
